Privacy

DUWA doesn't collect anything about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash reporting. There are two ways to play — the app on your phone, and the rooms on this website — and neither one builds a profile of you. They do move different amounts of data around, so they get a section each below.

What stays on your phone

The app remembers the nickname you pick and your high scores. Both live in your phone’s own storage and are deleted when you delete the app.

What the network permission is for

DUWA asks for permission to use your local network. It needs this to find the other phones playing in the same room, using Apple’s MultipeerConnectivity. While you are in a game, your phone exchanges the things a game needs — your nickname, which direction you pressed, and the state of the board — directly with the other players’ phones over your wifi.

That traffic never leaves your network and never reaches a server, because there is no server. The app makes no internet connections at all.

Rooms on this website

Playing someone in your browser is the one part of DUWA that uses a server. When you join a room, your browser opens a connection to a small program running on Cloudflare, and for as long as you are in that room it sends the nickname you typed, the buttons you press, and the state of the board. That is the whole list.

None of it is written to a database, because there isn’t one. A room keeps its game in memory while people are in it and deletes everything the moment the last person leaves — including the nickname. There is no history, no replay, and no way for me to look up a game you played. Cloudflare keeps its own operational records of connections, the way any host does; those are request logs, not the contents of your game.

The nickname you pick is also saved in your own browser’s storage so you don’t have to type it again. Clearing your site data removes it.

Children

DUWA is rated 4+. There's no chat, no links out and no purchases, in the app or on this website. In the app the only people you can play with are the ones already on your wifi. A room on this website can be shared with anyone who has the link, so a child could in principle play someone you don’t know — but there is no way to send them a message, and a nickname is the only thing anyone ever sees.

Changes

If this ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Any future change that affects the app would have to be announced in an app update before it could take effect.
